Phoenix is a great place to start a new business. At the Menlo Group, we are in the commercial real estate Phoenix business, and we love to see entrepreneurs get off the ground and into a new space to cultivate their endeavors. If you are like local entrepreneur Jeff Malkoon, you might be working hard to make your business dreams come true. Jeff started his business in his mother’s central Phoenix kitchen years ago and now finds himself in the national spotlight.
Last week, Jeff traveled to the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, to pitch his business, Peanut Butter Americano, to Shark Tank investor Daymond John. Shark Tank is an Emmy-award winning reality show that gives people the chance to pitch their business ideas to investors. While Jeff and Peanut Butter Ameicano lost to Earhoox, a Florida based company that makes an accessory for ear buds, Jeff still feels like a winner!
He received an all-expenses paid trip to Austin for himself and his family as well as a mentorship opportunity with Guy Kawaski, a successful business executive, author and chief evangelist of Apple. Jeff will also be working with PayPal upon his return to Phoenix. He uses the popular payment processing service for his peanut butter business. Last year alone, he sold more than 40,000 jars of his product. His peanut butter flavors include classic, cinnamon honey, white chocolate, dark chocolate, classic almond and cinnamon roasted almond. All proceeds from the dark chocolate peanut butter support charity.
